Smart Server Monitoring - How It Works

Zero disruption and all administered on-line...

SMART is fully automatic, there is no disruption to service, nor any hardware or software package to purchase

We simply provide you with a small piece of free code - called the AMP client module. This has to be installed on each of the Servers you wish to be monitored. For Windows Servers we can issue you with a pre-configured CD - which runs the install process. For Unix environments, we can provide the installation files on a CD or a USB Fob. You can also download the server configuration file from the control panel by clicking on a link option in the control panel.
Most server monitoring tools only monitor the 'dashboard' - that is those external facing internet services, such as FTP, WEB, Mail etc., whereas SMART also monitors the 'Gearbox', this is achieved by the simple installation of the AMP client module, which is then able to collect internal data from the operating system, allowing us to notify you when anything critical has a problem.
You define the requirements for your Servers via the control panel
This AMP client code constantly collects standard performance data recorded by the Server Operating System. Following install of the AMP client module you DO NOT need re-boot the server, the AMP client code runs automatically. This small piece of code does not affect your server in any way, nor does it interact with any application
Following install, the AMP client module begins to send out packets of data to the AMP web monitoring platform. Before these data packets can get through to us - you need to open the appropriate port on your firewall. The Firewall ports to be opened are 5666 for Unix servers and 12489 for Windows Servers (Instructions for Opening this port are provided as part of your Welcome Pack)
If your server is hosted at an ISP or you are not sure how to install the AMP module on your server - you can always ring support on : 020 3286 1735
You can review these statistics and check any problems by clicking on the AMP web page link found in your Control panel. You can log into your user control panel by clicking on the "Create Your Login" button above, when the system will send you a password (your Email address will be used as the User ID).
To see how alerts works, please go to the AMP panel and enter your mobile number into the DEMO field and click 'TEST'
